Shyja, Special Secretary (Law) with the Government of Kerala, presently serves as the Registrar of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Ernakulam. 

Since joining the state law department in 1997, Shyja has held various positions, including the Head of Legal Section of the Kerala State Beverages Corporation, Chief Executive of the Headload Workers Welfare Board, District Law Officer (at Kozhikode and Ernakulam), and Law Officer at Travancore Sugars and Chemicals Ltd and Malabar Distilleries Ltd. 

She has also served at the Kerala Legal Services Authority (KELSA), where she was involved in conducting several Lok Adalats, as well as in various roles at the Office of the Director of Prosecutions and the Human Rights Commission. 

Shyja holds an LLB (1995) from the Govt. Law College, Ernakulam. She also has a PG Diploma in Consumer Law and ADR from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, where her dissertation, "Roots and Routes of Mediation," earned her the top grade. She is trained in mediation and is an accredited mediator with the Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation, Kochi.
