GLC-EKM, BSOLS and SNLC win Prizes at M for Mediation Quiz
Govt Law College, Ernakulam, Bharata Mata School of Legal Studies, and SN Law College, Poothotta won the first, second, and third prizes at the All Kerala M for Mediation Quiz Competition for law schools, which was organized by The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) as part of Project M for Mediation on 15 March 2024.

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) is hosting the All Kerala M for Mediation Quiz Competition for law schools. The Competition is a part of Project M for Mediation.
The objective of the Competition is to promote intellectual curiosity in mediation among law students and provide better visibility to mediation in the relevant academic and professional circles. It also aims to allow the students to demonstrate their thinking and knowledge of mediation.
The Competition runs from 1030 through 1730 hours on Friday, 15 March 2024.

Who may participate?
The Competition is open to all recognised law schools in Kerala. A law school may register a maximum of two teams.
Each team shall consist of two law students pursuing an LLB and authorised in writing by its administrative head to represent the law school.
A maximum of 18 teams will be admitted to the Competition on a first-come-first-served basis.
Key Dates & Time
Registration of Teams: 5 pm IST, 11 March 2024.
Formal Admission to the Competition: 10 pm IST, 12 March 2024.
Preliminary Round: 11.30 am IST, 15 March 2024.
Final Round: 4 pm IST, 15 March 2024.
How to participate? - Three Simple Steps
01: Register
All teams shall register for the Competition using this Google Form on or before 5 pm IST, 11 March 2024.
The organisers will issue, on or before 10 pm IST, 11 March 2024, a written confirmation of admission to the Competition to all teams who have duly registered.
There is no registration fee.
02: Prepare
Syllabus: the questions will be based on the theory and practice of mediation with a special focus on the Mediation Act 2023 (including the original Bill and the Standing Committee Report on the original Bill).

03: Compete
There will be a Preliminary Round (if necessary) at 11.30 pm IST on Friday, 15 March 2024, at NUALS, in which all admitted teams will compete for a place in the Final Round. The top six teams will qualify for the Final Round.
The Final Round will be conducted at 4 pm IST, 15 March 2024.
Evaluation Process
Preliminary Round: All registered teams will be put through a screening test consisting of 30 questions. The five top teams will qualify for the Final Round.
Final Round: The finalists will face the Quiz Master in an open set-up, where a limited audience will be allowed to watch the Competition. There will be 6 rounds of 5 questions each. A three-member jury will support the Quiz Master in conducting the Competition.
* The decisions made by the Quiz Master and/or the Supporting Jury will be final, and no appeal shall lie against them.

Fees and Costs
There will be no registration fees.
The organisers will arrange for lunch and evening tea for all teams.
The teams will have to arrange their own transport to and from the venue and accommodation if needed.
Prizes
First Prize: A Cash Prize of ₹10,000, a Framed Certificate of Merit, and Admission to the Mediation Masterclass.
Second Prize: A Cash Prize of ₹5,000, a Framed Certificate of Merit, and Admission to the Mediation Masterclass.
Third Prize: A Cash Prize of ₹3,000, a Framed Certificate of Merit, and Admission to the Mediation Masterclass.
All Finalists: A Certificate of Merit and Admission to the Mediation Masterclass.
All Participants: A Certificate of Participation.
* While admission to the Mediation Masterclass is guaranteed to all Finalists, they must fulfil the course requirements to obtain appropriate certificates.
