Responsible Eating Drive (RED) is a campaign to engage secondary and higher secondary school students on healthy living.
It aims to assist the target students to (a) improve their general (physical, mental and emotional) health; and (b) prevent diseases (primarily, obesity-related medical issues and lifestyle diseases). RED plans to do it by (a) empowering the students with accurate and appropriate information on healthy eating and active lifestyle (RED Lectures), (b) building communities at schools (and designing, and/or executing appropriate activities) to facilitate a sustainable atmosphere conducive for continued healthy living (RED Communities); and (c) developing and managing online platforms, amongst others, to aggregate RED contents, communicate with RED Communities, conduct assessment/ impact exercises, and reach out to a bigger audience.
It is a part of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) nationwide campaign called the Safe and Nutritious Food at Schools (SNFS) which aims to help school children inculcate the habit of eating safe and eating right.
